Our funeral lunch ministry is a wonderful way to help the grieving family of deceased parishioners by providing a luncheon after the funeral liturgy as a funeral cook, worker, or baker. Funeral Cooks are in charge of ordering and preparing the food based on the menu selected by the family. Funeral Workers aid the cook in preparing, serving, and cleaning up after the funeral luncheon. Cake Bakers are called upon to bake a cake for the luncheon. Funeral cooks, workers and cake bakers are called on to work the funeral luncheons on a rotating system. This will vary according to the number of funerals and the availability of the workers and cake bakers.
The time involved for each funeral is approximately 3-4 hours per lunch. Both men and women are welcome to this ministry. Serving others is one of the key guidelines in our Catholic faith and we can do so by helping others, especially during their times of need. Since there is never a moment when one can tell when hard times will hit, we are always there for local families to assist them during their struggles.
We are always accepting a wide array of donations. For food items we ask that they be non-perishable items for better storage, but we also accept other basic need items such as: toiletries, shampoo, conditioner, soap, laundry detergent and more. We also accept donations which are contributed to a fund for the food pantry in order to purchase additional items that are needed, or in short supply. This aids the families that are receiving items to be sure they have supplies for their basic needs and that of their family.
The food pantry for the cluster is held at Mary Help of Christians Church. The food pantry is open on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm and 1-3pm, or by appointment. Please contact the parish office at 419-375-4153 or stop by if there is ever a time the food pantry services can assist you or your family.
The Holy Trinity Food Pantry is open on Saturday mornings from 9 - 11 A.M. Anyone in the county who is in need is welcome to use the pantry. The pantry receives its funding from local businesses, churches and charities and our Fifth Sunday collection envelopes. The Spring canned goods drive by the Boy Scouts also goes to the Food Pantry. Helpers are needed on Saturdays. The Food Pantry is located at 830 W. Main St, Coldwater (Mercer Health West Campus).
