Prayer Of The Faithful
In the Prayers of the Faithful (petitions), God is addressed on behalf of the deceased and the mourners in the name of the entire Church. A standard set of intercessions will include the name of your loved one and the deceased family names. These may be customized with the addition of one or two other petitions for special circumstances (i.e., for farming, the military, those who suffer from cancer).
The bereavement minister will provide a copy for you prior to the funeral. A family member or friend may read these petitions unless there is a deacon participating in the Mass.
